Disqus out with Version 2; resolves certain issues

Sardar Mohkim Khan

Disqus Disqus, a service for blog comments, enabling bloggers to converse on blogs more interactively and to manage them appropriately; the comment system connects readers across blog communities at the same time powering them to promote their content. The latest news from Disqus is the launch of its latest update, providing more than 30,000 sites signed up, an easier, faster and a more portable way.

The update enables users to create a ‘comment blog’ a service specifically for those who aren’t bloggers themselves but regularly comment on various blogs. It has also introduced a pretty sleek make over of the homepage for commenters; giving them one-stop from where they can view comments they make and those from friends and track responses.

However the better part of the update is the import/export of comments as many blog owners using their service wandered as to what would happen if the Disqus server(s) was to go down? A loss forever was the most obvious result of it. MG Siegler made a quick note of another issue for the sites using the Disqus plug-I is that Google cannot crawl across the comments made since they are based on Java.

Exactly, that isn’t the least bit SEO friendly, but the new API is far more effective, providing an automatic data synchronization between your site and Disqus servers. Over all the newer version has added more to discuss in Disqus and the comment backup system comes as a much needed addition to it.

Just found your blog today. Really like it - keep up the good work.Domain info more important than you think :-)Domain information such as DNS, age of domain and even the expiration date are used to distinguish between illegitimate and legitimate domains. Why are google doing this? Simply to get all the factors they can to get an internal “trust score”.This “trust score” is used to eliminate “doorway” pages and spam in the search result.I’M not saying that it’s working perfectly - but they are doing a pretty good job.
