Disney’s Movies.com sold to Comcast’s Fandango

Fandango Logo movies.com Logo Comcast’s movie ticketing company Fandango has announced on Monday that it has acquired Movies.com. Movie.com is a news and reviews aggregator of movies. Walt Disney Internet Group previously owned the site. Fandango is owned by Comcast since 2007.

Although the news of acquisition is out, financial details remained classified. According to the executives the goal of the acquisition is to provide a single stop movie hub for the web.

Fandango CEO, Chuck Davis, in a statement said:

We are pleased to expand our rich-entertainment reach through this strategic addition of Movies.com

We’ll be able to leverage our combined assets to offer millions of new moviegoers the best movie-related information available on the Web.

Currently the site sells admission to some 15,000 theatres throughout United States. The Los Angeles based Fandango is used by millions of people in order to buy movie tickets.
