If you have a product and you want to market it well, it is important that you should provide precise information to your clients about it. You can give introduction regarding the product with the help of a video, audio or maybe through an article. ProductPlanner lets you do this by allowing users to make user flows for their online products. This makes it easier for users to understand the flow of online products.
To use the service you have to go through a simple process of registration. Once done, you will be able to discover, create and share user flows. User flows tell you the flow of a product.
You can see the user flow designed by others in the Gallery section. These flows will give you an idea and help you create your own flows. To create the flow you have to go to the ‘Create Flow’ section and fill out the information about the flow and add steps. The information of the flow contains Flow Name, Product Name, Company Name, Flow Type, Product Type and Tags.
Flow Type contain options including Sign Up, Invite, Share, Embed, Follow, Action and Challenge. Product Type contain options which includes Social Networking, Social News, Video Sharing, Document Sharing, Photo Sharing, Instant Messaging, Facebook Applications, Gaming and Others.
You can add steps of the flow which will help others understand the product well. You can choose from a number of steps such as Web – User invites friends, Web – User clicks email invite and a lot more. One can use them depending on his/her product.
There are three ways you can create flows i.e. Horizontal, Vertical and Loop. You can add images to the specific flows and also customize the steps by changing the caption under the Flow Steps heading at the right side. Once you are done with creating flows you can save it and easily share it.
You can also keep the flows private. While sharing the chart, you can assign a password so that only those can see who have the password. If you share the user flow, you can also get the embed code which you can use to embed the chart anywhere in a website. Comments are also allowed on the charts. If you like any user flow, you can favourite it. Searching is also available. If you come across a user flow which is similar to your product, you can make changes in it and save it to your profile. Following is the embedded user flow.
Overall the service is cool as it gives you an easy and better way to portray your product to your customers. The only flaw or I should say mistake I came across while reviewing the service was that, when you save a user flow, you are directed to a page where you can set the whole chart private or shared; here you will see two options i.e. Edit Flow and Use Flow, both of them leading to the same page where you can edit the chart. They can remove a button so that users won’t get confused. Also it would be better if the name of the creator of a user flow is shown. This would make users feel more affiliated with the service.
The whole idea of the service is great. To further improve, the site can have specific section of charts like they can have a System Analysis and Design section where specific users can have related shapes to make the flow chart. Anyway the service is interesting and you should try it. You can sign up for the service here.
