Windows 7 will be having a new technology called WARP, which allow the CPU to act as a graphics accelerator. Meaning you will not be needing to integrate a graphic hardware for games that don’t require much accelerated graphics. But there is a catch to it, you need a 800Mhz processor at least for full functional capability and DX10 compliance with your hardware.
Why is Microsoft doing this, possibly to avoid the same mistake of “Vista Enabled PC” that it did earlier with Vista. But this it wont replace completely the need for a Graphics Card as games today need much more power to render lush images and sounds.
Microsoft reports that when paired with the i7, it runs 42% faster.
Is Microsoft trying to hard to win back unhappy customers from the failure of Vista? What do you say?
