Gawker Media’s Consumerist.com is bought by Consumers Union – the deal is aimed to increase reach of the website to a younger audience. NYT reports that the blog would become a new division of Consumers Union, where the current editors would remain on their posts. Kevin McKean, VC and editorial director of the Consumers Union states:

We don’t want to acquire the Consumerist and then squelch it in some way
