CitySearch gives its site a breather with the redesign and the integration with Facebook Connect in order to improve its identity search system. Currently in beta, the service is set to become the default search system for the neighborhood. The differentiating factor is making the entire code open-sourced; which in turn had many improvements immediately making their way out. The major changes being:
-
Hyper-Social Content: This would immediately boost the user-base as those of us who don’t have CitySearch account can log in with their Facebook’s and vote on reviews.
-
Hyper-local Content: This feature is advantageous as users can get a detailed guide or create one on their neighborhood including shops, businesses, etc. The service will add more than 75,000 neighborhoods in less than a year.
-
More reviewer, merchant, editor interaction: The new design takes a new turn at opinions with a three columned display that shows reviews from all three.
-
More Mobility: The redesign focuses more enhancing the user’s mobile experience and is utilizing the power of Google Gears’ API for geo-location.
