Cisco System is going to acquire a private email startup, PostPath for $215 Million. Being a Networking giant, Cisco has always strived to create Internet solutions that can make networks possible and foster people with an easily accessible information without any time and place restriction.
PostPath, Inc., is a Linux based innovative e-mail and calendaring software provider. Incubated at Mountain View, Calif., the company runs its additional development operations at Sofia and Bulgaria. Being compatible with AJAX web client and various mobile clients, it provides collaborative solutions that are secured enough to cater the needs of large entrepreneurs. Its acquisition by Cisco shows its efficiency and scalable working capability.
According to Cisco, the PostPath’s acquisition will help it to extend the email and calendar functionality of its software based platform that includes IM, voice, video, data, docs and Web 2.0 apps. It will also make Cisco more customer oriented as this collaborative platform will serve as a catalyst to accelerate their business processes. Doug Dennerline, Cisco SVP, said:
The acquisition of PostPath complements our strategy to develop an integrated collaboration platform designed for how we work today and into the future, providing real productivity gains and a more satisfying user experience. Our ‘cloud-based’ delivery model offers our customers rapid deployment and compelling economics.
Prior to PostPath acquisition, Cisco Systems have had acquired WebEx for $2.9 billion to enhance its Business model and to target the Internet application market. According to Venture Beat, PostPath has raised a $30 million funding last year.
