Imagekind is the world’s fastest growing art site that offers more than 750,000 high quality images for sale that are the work of over 50,000 local and international artists. The site acts as web portal for professional artists to create and sell their work, at the same time developing an online experience that turns that is interactive and encouraging for the creative lot. With partners including leading brands like Walgreen, Snapfish, Flickr, HP and Costco.com; according to VentureBeat, it has been acquired by CafePress for $15 to $20 million in cash and stock.
CafePress.com is an ever expanding network with 6.5 million members who indulge in blasting the creative platform by transforming their artwork and ideas into unique gifts and eventual revenue streams. With over 150 million products that range from apparel to books and posters CafePress has an endless list of customizable merchandise for its consumers.
The present acquisition will provide Imagekind to gain more exposure using CafePress’ mammoth user-base. This doesn’t mean that Imagekind would integrate entirely into CafePress; the idea is to continue using their brand and website as it has been.
There have been attempts in the past by various online services including Amazon to acquire Imagekind but it ended in a failure. With another attempt from CafePress’ major competitor Zazzle, but we here guess that all such deals ended up no where for the good of it and time will tell how good the deal turns out for both. Integrating arts and methods at its distribution can turn out pretty explosive when it comes to success, artists buckle up for a bigger market!
