Build your own search engine/site search with BuildaSearch

Saad Ali Abbasi

BuildASearch_logo BuildaSearch, a San Diego-based company, came up with an all new search service. It’s handy for students or anyone looking to build a search engine. You need not possess any programming skills. It allows you to create a search engine; single site and a multiple site search in less than 5 minutes.

It also allows anyone to paste a custom search engine or site search to external sites which support PHP. For this particular function there is no need to code as the PHP code is dynamically rendered (less than 20 lines of code).

Buildasearch.com is 100% web-based, and lets you create a custom search engine within minutes. I had a chat with one of the developers who provided that BuildaSearch’s concept came from a casual sitting at an eating place. Though they’re not the biggest search engine around, but if anyone wants to build a search engine they claim to be the fastest.

A sample site search is shown below:

The service is also attractive in the sense that it requires no programming. BuildaSearch requires no downloads, is “fully customizable via a home-made recipe”. You can play around with your search engine too – name it after your fluffy dog or color it like the sea. All customizations to the external search code can be done using the BuildaSearch User Interface, allowing ease to even the novice users.

BuildaSearch offers more programming languages soon. It is upgrading constantly, so keep visiting and you’ll find even better usability.

BuildaSearch now allows users to build a custom site search in minutes. An example of a Digg.com site search can be viewed at the following: Bubba
