Drop.io in a bid to expand its services to a larger number of users has today announced the launch of its API. This will enable developers to make use of the functions offered by the service and have them in their own applications. Users will benefit as they can use Drop.io’s storage facility based on the Amazon web service along with taking advantage of various services Drop.io has to offer.
Drop.io in its email mentioned about a few applications that they had built using the API. The names include:
Usend.io, a service that lets users send large files via emails by just adding them to the Drop.io and addressing it to the recipient. This provides a fast and easy transfer of data using the platform.
Twitterslurp is another application built using this and enables users to search Twitter messages. The results for these searches are placed in the Drop.io drop and can be viewed from there.
I guess Drop.io has done the right thing with the launch of its API and it can very well bring more innovation to the service.
