And yet again we see the batteries being called again. In 2006 –2007 we saw massive DELL laptop explosions due to heating and fire hazard risks. Soon Sony joined the gang of it’s massive popular 9.6m battery recalling in 2006 which had cost the company 35.5 billion yen.
And today as we speak, manufacturers including HP,Toshiba, Sony will recall batteries. The U.S. government issued on Thursday a recall of 35,000 Sony batteries and the Tokyo-based company said it would recall a further 65,000 batteries worldwide.
It was just last month that Sony had recalled 438,000 VAIO laptop batteries. The recall affects around 74,000 notebook PCs sold by HP and 14,400 from Toshiba.
What I think that after seeing aftermaths such as laptop bursts and such large quantity of battery recalls in recent years is tat, these Big names in tech are focused more on sales rather than quality which used to be their trademark.
Allowing products in batch to be released without optimal testing and Quality Assurance is just putting their market user brand image down.
Do you think these companies should be issued rigorous penalties due to non-compliance of international standards of testing or not?
