Microsoft today has launched its much awaited consumer web platform Dubbed LiveServices. Two day paid sessions are planned throughout the world (US, Asia, Australia, Western-Europe and Eastern-Europe), and will provide a deep-dive in different Windows Live technologies.
But what is liveservices? Microsoft elaborates it’s purpose as:
Want to build traffic, drive user engagement and influence behavior through your Web applications? Want to ride the social networking and mobility wave in the consumer market?
Microsoft, now fully focused on it’s cloud initiative is quickly publicizing it’s web platform tools including the much hyped about silverlight(yes the competitor to adobe’s flash), to engage developers to develop application’s based for the web using the new Live framework with a new architecture . Live Mesh is a recent example of this initiative.
The agenda described, is as below:
Microsoft Virtual Earth
Live Search
Windows Live ID
-
Web Authentication
-
Client Authentication
-
Delegated Authentication
-
Federated Authentication
Silverlight Streaming
Windows Live User Data APIs
Windows Live Messenger
Live Mesh
As reported my Mary Jo Foley, Microsoft describes this initiative as
Live Services Jumpstart provides in-depth technical training sessions (level 300-400) on Microsoft’s cutting edge consumer web platform technologies that help developers / partner organizations build rich web applications, sync and share them across devices and more importantly, build audience for the web applications.
Upon attending this event, you should be able to Jumpstart your web application development with the power of Live Services.
The redmonian behemoth is quickly striving to conquer the web application market, especially in the growing era of cloud computing, in order not be beaten again by other companies on the web again. Web application development for the cloud is a completely different ballgame, with low developer number’s(rapidly growing by the way), in combination with the concept of SAAS(software as a service).
Will Microsoft be able to capture the market or will it again lag behind competing with only low market share? Let’s see how it goes…
