AOL had announced last month of shutting down its services that were non-performing; the services included Xdrive, AOL Pictures, Bluestring and MyMobile. This might have been done for the transition of AOL with Yahoo or Microsoft and as reported presently; Time Warner to split AOL inventory.
We have reported about the issue and it appears that the users of these services will be looking up for a replacement as AOL steps up towards its transition. We might not have much for the users of each of the services but those of Xdrive might just have another place to switch their online storage to.
We had been contacted by people of two similar services, Box.net and Drop.io who have pointed at the smooth transition for the users of Xdrive with any of the two services. We aren’t sure about the exact terms and conditions, but a spokesperson from Drop.io has commented on a free premium upgrade to all existing Xdrive users.
