After all why would the department of defense not want something like this!!! The DOD has launched a social networking site especially for military families in replica to YouTube, for families to connect and socialize called Trooptube.

the new online video site designed to help military families connect and keep in touch while miles apart. The site is designed for easy use, so you can quickly upload videos and share the simple joys of each day with each other, either privately or with the whole world.

What I personally saw was that the search engine was really optimized and very efficient. But it is possible that the pentagon may ban some videos fro some security and geopolitical reasons.

Anyway a good start to see that government sectors could also harness the power of the social internet.
