Only 9 days are left in the opening of excited Beijing Olympics Games. All Sports addicted fans are eagerly waiting to sight Olympics, read about its latest updates or watch the thrilling event. Its Obvious that everyone can not pay a physical visit to China and therefore most of us will rely on Internet, Television, Gadgets, Radio , Newspapers to keep themselves updated with the giant festival. But China is providing hindrance in the fastest mean of communication i-e Internet by restricting access to some sensitive websites.
Blocking of all sensitive sites is not the only issue faced by Organizers but its an addition in China’s outrageous on growing Security issues and pollution fears. Its worth mentioning here about the negative response from China Organizers when Senior President for NBC Sports had asked them to unveil the backseat to TV issue.
Thousands of perplexed Journalists that are working in Beijing right now and will stay there during the next several weeks would be unable to access any site with Tibet in the address such as Amnesty International.
This seems quiet ridiculous! To provide an unbound restriction on Internet has frustrated
large number of reporters and public’s criticism. Though China had promised International Organizers that it will grant complete freedom to journalism, seven years ago when they were striving hard to gain rights to organize Olympics 2008 in their Country. Back in April, Chinese Organizers also assured International Olympic Committee members to unveil their routine Internet Censorship during the event to promote games.
But according to Recent updates, IOC says that they are still supporting Internet Freedom but only to the websites that are directly related to “Olympics Competitions”, while Journalist found the slow download rates disgusting and think that IOC is indirectly encouraging them to quit using Online access. IOC press chief Kevan Gosper said:
I regret that it now appears BOCOG has announced that there will be limitations on website access during Games time, I also now understand that some IOC officials negotiated with the Chinese that some sensitive sites would be blocked on the basis they were not considered Games related.
However most of the media men thinks that it would be a great obstacle in the field of journalism and this will surely affect the enthusiastic reporters. Cuban reporter Joel Garcia Leon, with the magazine Trabajadores said that they are acting abnormally by making small things weird.
”I’m surprised how tightly controlled and complicated everything is here. To get a phone number from China Mobile, I have to give them a copy of my passport and my mother’s maiden name. This seems quite excessive and abnormal.”
China’s amaranthine restrictions and unwanted Internet check is highly unappreciated and with it leads to the question as how can they claim to promote ‘Journalism freedoms’ with an attack on the most used Journalism source- Internet.

This is ridiculously, how can a they do this with one of most a waited international sports event.
