BBC is already streaming its channels via its iPlayer, but it has plans to build an open platform together with ITV and Channel 4, that could be accessed by everyone around the globe. Revenues would be generated by selling advertising on the site and at a later point in time, sell set-top boxes, phones and other portable devices – very much similar to what Blockbuster is doing now.
