After earning a position of China’s answer to Google, Baidu had come under a lot of pressure after state TV accused it of allowing suppliers of medical products without license to buy higher rankings on its result page. There has been a lot of damage with its stocks in the U.S falling by 30% and infuriating the people at home. Although there is no such law that Baidu has broken but in order to show the people it takes responsibility and cares for its people has suspended many a merchants from its paid search service. Robin Li, CEO Baidu said:

We are doing this because we care. It is important to us. We want to be a responsible corporate citizen. If I had to speculate, our traffic will be negatively affected in the short term
