Headquartered in Montreal, the leading provider of flash based player for embedded devices, Bluestreak Technology has raised an amount of $5 million CAD from its major shareholders. The names of the investors were not disclosed. Also the company has hired a new Chief Executive Officer, Dominique Jodoin.
According to the chairman of the board of Bluestreak Technology, Bruno Ducharme:
Software giant Microsoft, which owned 150,935,575 Class A common stock in Comcast, has decided to sell 7.3% of its stake. This may be the result of the current economic downfall or may be the software giant is losing interest in the cable operator.
Ericsson, the Sweden based wireless equipment maker has announced that the company will be laying off 5,000 employees which is 6% of the overall 79,000 workforce. The announcement came after the company saw 31% decrease in the fourth quarter net profit as compared to last year. The reason described by the company was dramatic fall in sales of their Sony Ericsson handset unit along with the restructuring charges.

Burlington, Massachusetts based enterprise social media provider Mzinga, has laid off 15 employees which is 6.7% of the overall 225 employees. The company had earlier raised a huge amount of $32.5 million in a round of funding last March.

IBM the computing giant, has declared its intention to buy the Hong Kong based company Outblaze, a Chinese email and messaging company. Based in Hong Kong, the company trades hosted multi-language messaging and email services to various other service providers. With this deal, the Chinese company will become part of the Bluehouse project of IBM Lotus.
UK based property information and tools provider Zoopla, has raised £3.75 million in the Series B. The website is considered to be the UK’s largest property database containing information of more than 26 million homes. The current round of funding was participated by Octopus Ventures along with returning backer Atlas Venture.
