Sun Microsystem has confirmed that the company has laid off 1,300 employees. The job cuts are part of the restructuring plan which was first announced in November last year. According to the plan, around 6,000 employees are expected to lose their jobs. According to the company the job cuts are made across all the levels.

As Microsoft announced the layoffs, jobs from a number of departments are about to be cut. Around 5,000 employees will lose their jobs in the next 18 months. According to some reports the software giant has made hundreds of job cuts from the game division.

IAC’s division Ask Sponsored Listings, has acquired Sunnyvale, California based company Sendori. The later directs online traffic from different domains to particular online advertisers. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Earlier in the Series A of funding, Sendori had raised more than $2 million.

World’s largest chip maker Intel, has announced that the company will be ceasing production in five old factories. Due to closure of factories, around 5,000 to 6,000 employees will be laid off. The factories which will be closed includes two assembly and test locations in Penang, Malaysia along with one in Cavite, Philippines. Also production at wafer manufacturing plant at Fab 20 in Hillsboro, Ore and at D2 factory in Santa Clara, California will also stop production.
