image thumb30 Farmville Menace On Facebook: “Cuteness Overload”.. Meh!!

What sort of lame cuteness is this? You can guess I am seriously offended by Farmville coming to the iPhone, thanks to Steve Jobs announcement of the Farmville app on the iPhone at the WWDC. And while I still recover from that burst of hate, I see this add pop twice on Facebook, why is there only a LIKE button on it? Why not unlike, or trash or burn?

image thumb29 Twitpic Launches Photo Tagging, Looks In Good Shape To Leverage 190 Million Twitter Users

Twitpic is growing, it has already become the largest portal as Twitter for pictures and is introducing more functions and features. The latest to come forth is Photo Tagging, a feature that has been long available at other social networking sites like Facebook. There is no point in comparing the two here as they both cater to different versions of online social networking.

Twitpic has been upfront with updates and photo tagging is its next step after it launched the feature that let users categorize photos as per events. Again, the reason why there is a need to have such features is because users want more than just a portal or application to share pictures, they are looking for more functions, better organizing so that it is easier to share, discover and readily available to search. Which makes the introduction of the feature ever justified.

image thumb28 Farmville Comes To The iPhone.. If Only The iPhone Laid Eggs…

Alright everyone loves the Farmville from Zynga and honestly speaking I have been disgusted with the game, seeing everyone waste countless hours on it. It made personal computers, your laptops, and even the MacBooks appear useless machines, meant for lousy time waster. But that’s not where treachery ends, behold Farmville for the iPhone as well. God save us.

When was this announced? At the WWDC by Apple’s CEO, Steve Jobs and honestly that was the worst ever announcement or mention. Now many would say that the game runs on Flash and how is it going to run on the iPhone given how much Apple loathes Adobe’s Flash. The game worked fine, without Flash and users will finally be able to become self sustained in farming as everyone trades cows and hens while sowing seeds on the App. The biggest benefit comes to Zynga, that now has another massively powerful medium to leverage and get people more absorbed in the game.

image thumb25 CoboCards: Bringing Flash Card Tradition To The Web, Faster Collaborations, More Interactive Studies

How many of you still prefer using flash cards to assist in your studies? Well if you are one of those who want a more Web touch to it and collaborate with your fellows to have an interactive study experience, do try CoboCards. Honestly speaking I have never tried flash cards, especially because I found creating those extremely tiring that they appeared quite unhelpful, but I have been exploring the site for some time now and it makes flash cards fun.

The site offers quite a handy tool for students, you can avail the free offer but that will limit you to 3 sets of flash cards, something which is quite less given loads of coursework you have. The platform lets you study in groups, create cards, print those and maintain a look on the activity of friends via a clean chat dashboard. The paid versions are quite cheap and I bet it lets the group pitch in for the cash and avail the numerous features it has. Some of the features include:

image thumb21 The Good, The Bad And The WWDC

With almost everything being talked about at length across the globe about the WWDC and what Apple has come out with, the conference had its flip sides to go with the highs. We have mentioned the highs with the in depth review of the release of iPhone 4 HD and the rumors of the Magic Pad but there were other things worth mentioning as well.

The most important is the WiFi fail at the WWDC. Steve jobs was demonstrating the browsing capabilities of the iPhone 4 HD and the iPhone 3GS when the wireless connection failed. We are all aware how carefully things are planned for Apple events and the level of intolerance Steve Jobs has towards errors but it happened, right in from of the audience, with the iPhone in Jobs’ hands. I just wonder what’s coming the way of the person responsible for this, God help him.

image thumb20 The WWDC 2010: Apple [Re] Unveils The iPhone 4 [HD], The Keynote Was Quite Un Applish

The WWDC 2010, as always has seen a remarkable attendance. Many of us were obviously aware what is coming out this time from Apple especially since the iPhone 4G became old news after a leak by Gizmodo. But as is the case with Apple, it isn’t just about a device or two, the yearly event brings forth major announcement and the upcoming items from Apple.

There were speculations of the iPhone Verizon marriage earlier but that simply remained a rumor and Apple will continue to bundle the iPhone with AT&T. The pricing, well the iPhone 4 HD 16GB would cost you $199 and the iPhone HD 32GB would be available for $299. There is no price drop, which isn’t unusual given that the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3GS were sold like hot cakes across the globe and people continue to buy Apple products for whatever price they are available. Gladly enough Steve Jobs and his team was kind enough to not be greedy and increase the price.

image thumb19 The Multi Touch Magic Pad Leaked Before The WWDC. Looks Like Apple Has Something Other Than The iPhone

If there can be leaks and stealing of the iPhone HD long before the WWDC, the leaked images of Apple’s Multi-touch trackpad or the Magic pad as it’s called is no surprise. Engadget just released the pictures of the trackpad and they are convincing enough. The pad is tipped to give Apple’s laptops and Desktop machines the multi touch capability just like you have on the iPad.

The device, from the picture appears to be a peripheral and has a power button. I expect that it would connect via the Bluetooth, whatever it may be and no matter how it connects, it just shows one thing that Apple is pretty much inclined to make its MacBook and the desktop computes have multi-touch capabilities. Don’t see any harm in these, but honestly what’s the point of attaching an extra peripheral that simply removes the mouse and the keyboard is still there? Well at least there is something other than the iPhone coming our way WWDC 2010.

image thumb18 The WWDC 2010: What Has Apple Got Other Than The iPhone 4.. Errr iPhone HD?

The big day for everything Apple and its followers. We haven’t really talked much about the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference or to put it shortly, the WWDC. The interesting thing here is despite the leaking of the iPhone 4G well over a month back and to put a change the iPhone has named the device the iPhone HD, which in my opinion is quite a positive break from the 2G, 3G and 3GS naming, something I found quite repetitive and pointless for the fourth version of the hardware.

Twitter is filled with updates on the event set to start in a few hours and we are expecting a surprise. I am dead sure there Steve Jobs is having a few tricks up his sleeves. A few improvements to the iPhone HD include:

image thumb17 The Censorship Stronger In China As FourSquare Got Blocked Over Tiananmen Anniversary

While back in Pakistan, I was busy with the Cyclone threat from Phet that had been building up, China found itself blocking yet another website. This time it is the ever growing Foursquare and the reason for the block is Tiananmen Square.

The ban was initiated on June 4 as the the country was set to celebrate the 21st anniversary of the event when 3,000 protesters, which included students were massacred by the Chinese government. According to the law in the communist state, it is forbidden to discuss about the incident in the country and the Internet is to obey the same rules. The censoring of the site is not a new one, given that even Google obeyed the country’s law and kept search results in strict compliance to the government. Even access to Twitter was blocked last year for the same reasons.
