image thumb21 CW Network to premiere “Life Unexpected” on Facebook

CW network will be previewing its upcoming series “Life Unexpected” on Facebook, according to Broadcasting & Cable. The preview will be streamed on the Facebook fanpage of CW network, which currently has around 70,000 fans. The 10 minute preview will stream on Jan. 11, exactly one week before the series premiere would be aired on Cable TV.

The fan page is currently mute about this preview, and the only information available to us is via bloggers who have started to chit chat about it. Life Unexpected has already generated some buzz, as the pilot was applauded by critics and fans. CW is now trying to bank on this initial buzz and is aggressively marketing the upcoming series through its own site, in addition to leveraging the power of social media.

Department of Health and Senior Services – New Jersey, will be using Facebook and Twitter to update the local population about H1N1 swine flu. The state department has created a Facebook and Twitter page, which will be updated regularly with videos, audio clips, posters, flyers, press releases and other updates on the influenza.

"More and more people are using social networks to get their news and information," Health and Senior Services Commissioner Heather Howard said Wednesday. "Using Facebook and Twitter to provide information gives New Jersey residents two more sources for the latest updates on H1N1 in New Jersey."

Universal Studios has switched to Facebook to promote their Blu-ray titles. The movie studio has launched a Facebook app that holds daily sweepstakes to give away 25 prize packages containing four blu-ray movies every day, that relates to the weekly theme. The daily giveaways includes gems such as Wanted, Knocked Up and Forgetting Sarah Marshall from Universal’s collection of 2,010 Blu-ray movies.

The give-away would run for the entire month of January and would have a different theme every week, with week one featuring action movies, week two comedies, week three drama and week four having family films.

Besides holding the distinction of being the most popular sports star on Facebook, Ronaldo has the honors of being the most expensive player in football history after having transferred to Real Madrid in a deal worth £80 million (€94m, US$132m). Ronaldo is also the most profitable player ever in Real Madrid’s history, which had such stars as Zinedine Zidane and David Beckham, generating 80 million euros in advertising revenues per year.

Chase and Facebook have announced the first round winners of the $5 million Chase Community Giveaway.  The 100 winners of the first round would each get $25,000. These 100 charities now a chance to receive an additional $1 million in the second round that will begin from 15th Jan, 2010 and will last till 22nd Jan 2010.

As part of the Giveaway, Chase created a Community Giveaway Page on Facebook and asked users to vote for the charities, whom they think are the most deserving i.e. the ones that are making the most difference.
