Telco giant AT&T acquired Centennial Wireless yesterday, a carrier with a subscriber base of just 1.1 million. The N.J.-based carrier was bought for $944 million, probably with AT&T’s aim to achieve a wider market and expand on it’s iPhone coverage. AT&T would now be able to fill holes in its network, and provide subscribers with roaming facilities through Centennial’s network (for e.g., in Midwest, Southeast, and Puerto Rico).
