There are words rolling out analysts’ that Apple may be serving its lovers with the new iMac by March this year. The focus will be on improving the internal architecture/components of the machine as it will try to maximize performance and cut short power consumption. Apart from that chances are Apple might be delaying the new iMacs in wait for its new OS X, Snow Leopard. Given the anticipations regarding Snow Leopard, I bet they want the know machine to be loaded with an OS that accelerates its overall performance.
