LAT reports the teaming up again of Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz to kick in some investments in Qik; a platform that enables users to have streaming live videos from their cellular phones. The amount that the duo intends to invest remains shrouded but the two are set to join in as investors and board members that already includes Chairman and CEO, Salesforce.com. Marc Benioff.
The two presently enjoy success with their current occupations; Andreessen being the co-founder and chairman of social network, Ning as well as having a seat in Facebook’s board of directors and Horowitz being the VP and GM of HP’s business technology organization unit. Previously the duo had their heads joined up to create a web browser, Netscape and it wouldn’t bee so unpredictable that the two can turn Qik into something much better with their advice and recommendations.
Qik can definitely use help from the two to overcome competition especially that from rival Flixwagon, both of which try and imitate each other. If the team does maintain its nag for success Qik can pretty well widen the bridge between its key competitors and expand even more quickly.
Qik is an easy to use streaming portal that lets users broadcast directly from their cell phones. The service has seen its expansion quite rapidly and is being utilized from the common users to people sending images and recordings of sessions from the World Economic Form. Let’s just wait and see if things quickly shape in favor of Qik and improve it even more.
