Report by NACS Inc. reveals the sizable number of colleges and universities’ textbook market. US alone has captured a $5.5 billion market annually depicting the ever growing need of textbooks. Therefore to cater the needs of steadily growing global market, Amazon is planing to roll out the large screen Kindle of about 8.5 x 11 in the next year. Along with this large screen, a smaller form Kindle is also in pipeline that is expected to be released after Summers.
With the fast growing Internet World, there still exists some limitations that bonds student to the old-fashioned printed version of textbooks. Although majority of publishers now offer e-versions of their textbooks (with Universities like Princeton taking equal intrest) but lack of compatible devices(such as current existing kindles that are too small) makes it dull and useless.
Amazon’s large screen kindle contribution will surely boast the textbook market. The version that is to be inaugurated in an upcoming year, will be a boon to all overwhelmed students who hates carrying 20s of books with them and will prefer this deftly single but larger kindle. The battery life will be much longer than usual electronic device and this will solve the problem of abrupt shortage of power.
