There’s something very odd about Amazon going after Amazee, a Swiss social collaboration service. The reason? Well the retail giant thinks people might think it’s associated to Amazon, why? Because Amazon thinks Amazee sounds pretty similar to Amazon itself. Crap, that’s all I can say about it and Amazee is doing the right things taking this war to the public, at the same time promoting their brand by offering people a chance to win a $100 Amazon gift certificate. Is Amazon stupid or something? Reports state that the US attorneys for Amazon have appealed to prevent registration of Amazee in the country. I guess they’ve got nothing better to do for the time being or maybe fear Amazee taking over their empire by confusing people into thinking that Amazee is Amazon.

This sounds like the time a co. called Personeta tried to prevent a co. from using the word “persona” in its name. Obviously, this was thrown out of court. Seems like the lawyers for both Amazon and Personeta just needed to make some more ka-ching that day.
