image thumb82 Alerts.com Launches to help you combat Information Overload Alerts.com, a new startup that lets you track information that matters to you via alert messages, has finally launched its service. We reviewed the service in June, but back than it was buggy even for the signup thingie. Apparently they have now solved those issues and are now going up in a market which has players like Google with its Google Alerts and Yahoo with Yahoo Alerts.

However, the difference between the offerings of Yahoo, Google and Alerts.com is that Yahoo and Google just allow you to set up alerts for news media, whether it be sports news, weather updates, election results, or your horoscope. What sets Alerts.com apart is the sheer amount of services and mediums for which it can create alerts. The current list of services for which you can create alerts on Alerts.com is listed below:

  • Gas Price Alerts: will let you know which gas station in the neighborhood is offering the lowest price.
  • Press Release Alerts: will let you know whenever a new press release from the company you care about hits the wires.
  • Weather Alert: will keep you updated with the latest weather reports.
  • Daily Horoscope: will inform you if its the right time to ask your special someone for marriage.
  • Job Alerts: will keep you posted about the latest and greatest jobs that are relevant to you.
  • Free Form Alerts: lets you create custom alerts of your own.
  • Amber Alerts: lets you keep tabs on social causes.
  • Daily Tidbits: lets you enrich your daily life by remembering the minor things, that have major impact.
  • Flight Search Alerts: keeps you posted about the best prices for the destinations that you intend to visit in the near future.
  • RSS Feed Alerts: lets you track a keyword. You will be notified whenever someone you are subscribed to writes about a specific topic.
  • Hotel Price Alerts: lets you informed about the best deals on hotels of your likings.
  • Traffic Alerts: lets you know about traffic jams in real time. It claims to be the only real-time and predictive alert.
  • Baseball Score Alerts: Just so you don’t miss out on any home runs.

Naturally speaking, just listing all these services down was a hectic job, let alone keep tabs on all this myriad information. Alerts.com delivers you notifications and reminders in a format of your choosing. You can get notifications via email, SMS or voice messages. Its still unclear how Alerts.com would thread the fine line of being useful rather than becoming a nuisance in itself, and starts overwhelming you with its notifications.

The company is based in Seattle and has raised $1.2 million in venture financing from Monster Venture Partners.
