GigaFone is working on incoming phone call ads to bug the hell out of us. The system would be opt-in and based on the personal data provided by the users, will provide targeted ads. But the question is why? Why would any sane person want to opt-in for such a service, when we already pay enough bills with taxes for phone and cellular services. Well, GigaFone thinks that discounts and phone rate subsidies would lure in users to take the bait.
While the advertisement industry is trying to find new ways of providing ads in videos and websites in every way possible, GigaFone is looking for the most different medium, which ReadWriteWeb says is reminiscent of the successful efforts by Blyk, a European company that shows ads in exchange for fee minutes and text messages.
As much attractive discounts and phone rate subsidies would sound, I wouldn’t want to attend a phone call and than listen to an ad before talking my communication. Specially when a phone call of less than one minute would require you to go through ad hell? No way!



A corection needed here – and perhaps a little more research. The Gigafone solution is non-interrupt, presenting content only upon an incoming event. This content is only interactive AFTER the call, and can be cleared from screen with one touch. The only time given to the advertising is that which is voluntarily given by the user. Gigafone is in fact the solution to the problems you’ve outlined in the article.

Sure Imran. We basically use two methods based on teh answer to teh following question: What do you do when the phone rings? Firstly, because of the unique technology and psyco-interaction at moment of incoming call or sms, Gigafone guarantees “eyeballs” or viewers. This database is further specified into unique user data (one person may view an ad more than once), which is segmented by our analytics engine based on use-history/handset etc and run through our databse pre- and post- campaign. Secondly, we of course record CTRs (click Through Rates) where a customer will pursue a link or offer through the on screen ad to register for a competition, download promotional content etc. Thus we offer two mechanisms, one based on unique viewer statistics, the other on registered expressions of interest. Crucially, both are opt-in from a consumer point of view and do not interupt what should be a wholly intuitive and uninhibited communication exchange. This is the Gigafone proposition and what, I feel, differentiates us from all other mobile advertising propositions. We can deliver an almost unlimited advertising inventory without interrupting the customer’s thought flow.

i found the same idea with Utones ones mobile ads from indonesia who gives the same offer to subscriber for viewing the adv with free talk and mobile content such a ring tones,wallpaper etc.
also Utones able to become a solution for paying gates.
Utones aplication running under symbian 8,9 version also windows o/s.
this aplication including Voip service,traver guide,V-track(viachle tracing) gps system, the traying to build not only mobile adv but more.
i know that gigafone already coming to malaysia and indonesia,but after that some indonesia company steal the idea and develope the same consept and they already sell the fs to malaysia,australia and U.K.
i already makes some reaserch and gigafone can suit in indonesian market but the problem is gigafone overing is too much $1,5million for buying this aplication, compare to utones who only cost $100.000. including server. for more information contact my mail.

Both Utone and Gigafone have indeed brought a new platform for Ad Display, which can ensure more eyeballs to any product or services. Considering that Ads and any informercials are the least area of concern for any person and in such matter majority try to avoid such things, then just gving free points and allowing subscribers to redeem it for Mobile content or Talk time,
1)HOW MANY PERMISSABLE APPLICATION DEPOLYMENT CAN ANY COMPANY MAKE ?
2)WHAT IS THE PERCENTAGE OF SUBSCRIBERS WHICH WILL ALLOW Ad Display, in return of disocunts on Talk Time or Mobile Content. One point worth mentioning, the Mobile Operators are themselves offering better offers of reduced call rates or reduced GPRS rates.
