This is three years after the version 9 of the player.

Flash player 10 will harness the power of optimal sound engineering and video sound quality enhancement , giving power to the developers basically to work on rich content inclusion. This is very much similar to the rapidly growing silverlight platform from Microsoft which aims it  be be providing rich user interaction with optimal content engineering.

Adobe must have felt that it was rather time to do work more harder after the Beijing Olympics, silverlight along with partnership with NBC covered the whole event on their official website based on the silverlight platform hence increasing the number of silverlight worldwide users.

Developers hadn’t been able to make sounds as dynamic as they could other parts of Flash, Adobe platform senior product manager Justin Everett-Church said.

Designers and developers know if they deliver video, online games, rich Internet applications (RIAs) and other interactive experiences using Adobe Flash Player, they can reliably reach the entire Web, said David Wadhwani, general manager and vice president of the Platform Business Unit at Adobe. Flash Player 10 continues to set the pace for Internet innovation, and we’re excited to see how the community is already using it to create an entirely new class of experiences not previously achievable on the Web.

Flash Player 10 beta unveiled in May focused on graphics. But today’s release includes Time (JIT) engine adding capabilities of the world’s most pervasive application runtime with new support for custom filters and effects, native 3D transformation and animation, advanced audio processing, and GPU hardware acceleration. Building on over 25 years of Adobe expertise with text, the highly flexible new text engine in Flash Player 10 provides interactive designers and developers with more text layout options and better creative control.

The question remains now that will adobe be able to retain it’s high market share after the silverlight bloom and recently sun’s own JavaFx  or will it slowly loose teh confidence of developers?
