California based software maker Adobe is launching its new version of the Adobe Acrobat i.e. Acrobat 9 along with the beta version of their online suite Acrobat.com.
The new version is enabled with the video software flash which means that you can now add audio/video along with the document to describe their work/presentations.
Integration of Flash in Adobe was expected as Adobe purchased Macromedia Inc. in 2006. Users can now incorporate audio along with images in Power Point presentation.
Acrobat.com suite seems to be competing in some parts with office suites of Google/Zoho and might also compete with document sharing tools.
The tools offered in the suite include:
Buzzword
It is a word processor which lets you share documents, comment, review and create printer-ready document output.
ConnectNow
It is basically a conferencing tool including video, audio, text chat and desktop sharing.
Others
Along with online file sharing there is a storage in the cloud for files, PDF converter and tendency to create embedded documents straight from Acrobat.com.
API for extending services listed above is also present.
According to Allen Stern, Adobe does not lie in the list of big web companies but with the release of Acrobat.com, it doesn’t seem far.
