2.8 million copies of the latest World of Warcraft sold in 24 hours

The latest expansion of the World of Warcraft, Wrath of the Lich King, has sold around 2.8 million copies in the first 24 hours of its release. The new online game expansion has been published by the Blizzard Entertainment division of Activision Blizzard. World of Warcraft currently has 11 million subscribers and so the response to the current release is enormous. Nicknamed Warcrack, the current expansion pack has become the fastest selling PC game in the history, according to the company. The game was launched simultaneously on November 13th in many regions which includes North America, Europe, Chile, Argentina and Russia. The game will be launching in eight more countries on November 18th.
