$2.5 million raised by Airband Communications

Airband Logo Airband Communications, a company that provides WiMAX fixed-wireless to the businesses in US, has raised $2.5 million in a round of funding. The Dallas based company is said to be the largest WiMAX fixed-wireless service provider in the country.

Company’s website reads:

Airband Communications is the largest WiMAX fixed-wireless provider serving businesses in the United States. We deliver a comprehensive portfolio of high-bandwidth and managed solutions over one of the industry’s most scalable last-mile networks.

Founded in 2000, the company’s services include data co-location, network security, Virtual Private Networks (VPN), wireless private lines, wireless local loop and Web hosting. Most of the clients of the company are from industries such as financial services, travel, etc. Right now the company is serving in selected cities of states which includes Arizona, California, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Recently Phoenix is inducted in the list. So far 14 markets have been targeted but the company has plans to expand the business to other states and cities. The company which is currently serving 3500 businesses nationwide has customers like Continental Airlines, Smith Barney, etc.

Furthermore the site reads:

Airband built its wholly-owned network to bypass the local phone and cable companies, providing customers with faster install times, unmatched scalability and complete path redundancy from the traditional wireline infrastructure.

The company has raised amount from the Key Venture Partners, M/C Venture Partners, Crescendo Venture Management, Dolphin Equity Partners and The Sevin Rosen Funds, in the current round of funding.
