image thumb113 BillShrink shrinks Purchase cost and expands to 1 Million users

Everyone loves saving some cash when it comes to paying bills, etc and no wonder BillShrink is growing up on it. The startup which lets users make better decisions when it comes to buying products, today crossed the 1 Million user mark after almost a year and a half since it was launched in April last year. Impressive in every way but it saving $1 Billion on bill saving is something i find hard to digest, I mean how many of us actually go about jumping from one cell phone or carrier to another? Not many and if it has actually done so, I am surprised how much can it actually help save on each deal? On the other note, the startup has been impressive at bagging all data from across the Web and making it more readily searchable across its platform. With this announced, the startup is planning to go ahead with the launch of a few additional features and services to grow further. Lets see how it fares with all the new improvements coming up.

image thumb112 TweetDeck comes with more improvements; Maps, LinkedIn and what not!

There is more coming up with the new version of TweetDeck and those includes its endless support for ReTweets, LinkedIn stream and geo tagging messages with maps. Talk about making a mess of the entire TweetDeck board, which is something I seriously don’t like at all. But that is something which can be taken care of as it enables you edit these lists directly into transparent pop out boxes and provides suggestions for people you can add to the list that you are to create.

image thumb111 Google pushing Chrome out for Mac.. Minus a few features

It’s almost there, just there for the Mac as Google appears to be giving Chrome the final touches. The problem or should I say the workaround for Google is to reduce the number of features it is planning to bring out Chrome with. Why? Well that appears to be the only way that Macs can have it before the year ends.  The features that will be missing out from the release are Gears and Multi touch gestures and the App Mode that lets web based apps to function within the browser. Apart from that it will not be having full extension support as well as the support for the Full Screen mode. While these features will be missed for sure, but I guess it is better to have them come complete in the next version, the M5 and I bet it will be worth it.

image thumb110 Window is just a bit high for the Leopard to climb in

Windows 7 is really doing great as stats roll out stating that the OS is actually doing better than Snow Leopard Mac OS. The stats put Windows 7 powered PCs at 5.07% while the Mac OS X is just a fraction behind with 5%. While that is great to know, but it isn’t surprising given that Microsoft leads the OS market with a staggering 92% market share. But to be honest it has fared much better than its Vista and the latest OS continues to grow with a close to 4% monthly increase. I guess Ballmer was right on that when he was all excited with the performance of Windows 7 earlier.

image thumb109 An iPhone Worm is all you need to create to be hired as an App Developer

What is the best possible way to eliminate a threat without any lawsuits or bombardment? Offer the person a job, give respect and there you have it. We reported about Ashley Towns creating all the news about the iKee worm that crawled the iPhone and it appears that this guy from Australia has now been hired to develop apps for the iPhone. Well that is what he says. I am not sure as to why exactly he has been given this honor?

Oh yes, perhaps following the quote ‘set a thief to catch a thief’. The guy exploited the SSH vulnerability and brought it to Apple’s attention, but wasn’t it immoral of him to let go of it and have it infest the devices? Alright I am being too ethical about it and siding with those who are against his actions. Just think of it, had he gone up to Apple, brought this under their consideration, he wouldn’t have got a dime bit of attention, to be honest. That one bad act has at least got him a job where he can better utilize his talent for something more useful and less threatening!

image thumb108 And the Drain continues at Yahoo as Boss’ Mastermind; Vik Singh bows out

Vik Singh has called it quits after bringing to us Yahoo Boss. And the reason wasn’t dissatisfaction or anything, rather he plans to become an Entrepreneur at Sutter Hill Ventures. The question is why isn’t Yahoo holding on to people like him? As for Singh, well, he is nothing short of being excited, he knows what he is worth, given that he has had experience with Microsoft Research as well. Plus he masterminded the entire Yahoo Boss project, which by every means is the best ones coming out from Yahoo.

Yahoo has lost a string of key players in its team in the last year or so. While it is good for a change, but the troubles it is in or has been over time, it definitely needs to do something to keep much of its polished talent within. I mean if this is the rate at which people will keep flowing, it might have better ideas, but not the sort of folks who can really make things happen for it.
