There have tweets from almost everything now, unborn baby to God knows what else. Presently we come to hear that tweets have been coming in from planes too and those are done by the airlines. Lufthansa has taken the initiative and launched MySkyStatus that posts where your flight is on Twitter or on Facebook. The status is more like an information sent out on where the flight is at a particular moment every hour or so. Sounds quite an interesting idea and Twitter has once again been put to some good use. Though I just hope they don’t allow passengers or worst still the crew to post tweets and make them addicts. Why? Well you all know what I mean by that.

Here comes another news of a .com being sold for a high price, Insure.com was sold for a staggering $16 Million! This makes the Candy.com acquisition pretty low. This one makes a huge leap, given that it was bought for a tenth of its sale price. The site existed as an insurance broker and has been acquired by QuinStreet. The acquisition is the highest in the current year amongst the many domain purchases that have been made so far.
Alert, Alert it’s not just Facebook that has a vulnerability, the latest to be affected is Adobe Acrobat and Reader. This is found in the latest release of the software and leaves your system prone to execution of codes via PDF file. The primary target is version 9.1.3 for Windows but that doesn’t count out Mac, UNIX, etc. Adobe however will be releasing an update by Tuesday, 13th October. In the meantime users are advised to keep their anti virus software updated to avoid any issues.
Apple has taken a huge jump in the mobile marketing share ever since it released its iPhone and ever more during the last one year. Its share have reached an impressive 23%, jumping from around 16% last year. Plus Google is right there signing deals with major manufacturers to have more devices for the Android platform (Dell for example). Of course those digits are for the US market where Research in Motion has a major chunk of the market (around 50% or so) but it continues to drop. Well Blodget was quite right about it, where in the word is Microsoft? To be honest, nowhere. So what it should do about it? As he says, Microsoft should acquire RIMM, why? Because that is the only way Microsoft can do some business in the mobile market and stay alive while Apple and Google continue their climb and it’s only going to get worse as time moves on. But the whole point is if Microsoft is really interested in all this or will it really wait for the water to go above its heads when it begins to spend even more to get market attention and share. Not sure, but let’s see how seriously Microsoft really takes this seriously.
1 Billion views a day, wait a minute, was this really worth creating a new logo, given especially that YouTube must have achieved the milestone quite some time back? But I guess YouTube needed it, which is by no means objectionable. To be honest it is definitely the most watched video source and I can bet many people watch it more than they do watch the television. Plus there is another reason they have, which is to celebrate the third year of its $1.65 Billion acquisition by Google.
Looks as if that wasn’t enough, some people have come out with a way to make Google even more naked simpler. Only yesterday we reported how you could simply remove the extra buttons and texts (only to have them reappear as you hovered the mouse) and now a new code. Works the similar way and all you have to do is copy paste the code in the address bar and hit enter. Oh, of course you have to be on the Google homepage and once you hit refresh, you have the ah so empty Google page. The code you need to use is:
Amie Street, the online music startup as raised $3.9 Million in its B round. The round was led by Deep Fork Capital along with participation from other investors whose names remain undisclosed. The funds will be utilized to refine the product and develop new products. Users of the startups promote their music using its platform and the startup had earlier signed a key deal with Sony Music, which isn’t surprising given that it has more than 1.5 million titles available for downloading.
Using videos is always better to get your word across compared to lines of words and that is what Vator is about. The platform is a new business media company and relies on communities to generate content and date. The idea is to enable startups find a voice online where they can share news via videos, texts, etc using the variety of networking tools like Twitter, YouTube, etc to spread their word and bring their ideas to the audience. What it lets you do is let founders pitch in their ideas via videos and has been around for quite some time. I like the idea behind it a lot, just surprised why I never really read about it earlier.
