Well Google might be promoting Chrome at YouTube, but when a person finds out that it is the most valuable brands in the world, the promotion appears to be unwanted. Today Millward Brown released its annual report with Google continuing to reign supreme for third year running, valued at $100 billion. That’s a 16% increase from its value last year and is followed by Microsoft valued at $76.2 billion. Yahoo on the other hand took some serious hammering as it continued to dive from 62 to 81, as its value dropped from $11.5 billion to $7.9 billion. Well if people really start shifting to the clouds, I guess Google is going to widen the gap between its competitors, grabbing higher stakes. I wonder what are the predictions for next year? Any one to forecast that?
Jeff Levick, Google’s former VP of Industry Development and marketing who joined AOL has been given an extended role by AOL’s CEO, Tim Armstrong. Jeff will now be AOL’s president of Global Advertising Agency. Levick faces an uphill task as AOL appears to be one of the worst hit by the recession as it continues to fall in almost every area. All that remains to be seen as Jeff takes his position at AOL in the coming week or so. Tim Armstrong appeared to be more than hopeful having his former colleague jump into the sinking ship that AOL is to have it sailing again. Best of luck with that.
When someone says that the iPhone is the leader, the person isn’t entirely wrong. Be it a user or a developer, the phone has got everything to beat others and the current stats from JD Power prove it so. Apple’s prime device beats the other in the race by leaps and bounds and only place where it lags others is its battery life. Now those numbers are genuine, but I must say that the low battery life is primarily because how one uses the device. I have experienced it myself, the very ancient model of Nokia, 3310 used to last for days, but then it could only be used for texting or calls. With the iPhone, one is using the countless apps that utilize almost every hardware/software the device has to offer. With those stats out, I was surprised that LG stood second and HTC not in the top three was a hiccup as well. I think the list is going to be quite different by next year, given that Palm will be rolling out its much enhanced device and Android adding more to the HTC armory, plus there can always be expectations with Windows Mobile based phones doing good. But this year, it’s the iPhone that stands as the winner.
Hasbro is setting itself to provide kids and family with quality content by next years end as it buys stake in the Discovery Kids. Hasbro will be becoming a 50 percent venture partner by buying $300 million to Discovery Communications and along with Discovery Kids will continue to operate the network. However the two will rename the service, the name is yet to be decided. This would have the two create and distribute content giving Hasbro a dimension to its already existing brands.

Emoticons are pretty useful at expressing yourself in a much better way, so much that many people would avoid using a certain service if it has none to offer. Today Gmail got itself a few more of these emoticons and to be honest, I was surprised seeing a few. Gmail got itself a new feature today. Extra Emoji (Japanese term for Emoticons) and believe it or not they had a countless emoticons to offer, including feces. While sending an emoticon filled email to your friends or beloved, Gmail makes sure that you can be equally expressive when expressing your disgust about anyone you don’t like. Oh and hats off to the Japanese developers for such creativity. The love for emoticons in Japan had also forced iPhone to include a countless of those earlier as well.
