The year 2008 passed by and no matter how good it had been initially the end dented many in the Web Sphere. comScore released its reports on the top social media sites for 2008. It’s apparent from the chart above that Blogger dominates every other just as it always had, however the rise of Facebook has been phenomenal, rising by as much as 116% in the later half of the year. Presently it trails behind Bloggers 222 million with 200 million. I was pretty disappointed seeing Windows Life Spaces take a plunge the obvious reason could very well be it’s suffocating compared to the likes of MySpace, Facebook, etc.

scribd chart thumb 2008 shows Document Sharing on a high: Scribd in top 20

A comScore ranking shows Scribd was on a high in 2008, with unique visitors increasing rapidly, worldwide. Overall the ranking also shows that document sharing on the Web has a real demand and there’s room for more success. Turns out that Scribd has more unique visitors around the globe than Imeem – and round-about the same as Bebo. Though on the note of December’s steep drop in stats, CEO Trip Adler states:

iWork on Cloud (???)

Apple is rumored to be taking its iWork suite on flight by moving it to the cloud. This is pretty good, but given the competition it faces from Google docs, its obvious Apple will have to do something to reduce cost. I would always prefer Google docs as they cost me nothing.
