Glassdoor, an online portal that lets employees have their say about firms and employers rolled out its list of the best and worst places to work in. The list includes companies from various sectors, including the tech. It was interesting to seem Netflix, Adobe, Google and Apple in the top ten while other notable companies like AT&T, eBay being in the list of worse place to work in. Of course the survey is based on a small number of employees who are registered at Glassdoor, but it’s definitely Worth noting for the firms that they need to improve the working conditions they facilitate their employees with.
The iPhone has definitely made developers crunch their brains to bring the best apps to its users. We saw Ocarina and the Lighter app gaining immense popularity and today another one; RjDj improved its app with RjDj Shake. The app uses the iPhone’s accelerometer to sense the phone’s movement and adjust sounds. The team had earlier launched the app that senses noise from the surroundings and turn them to musical notes.
National Resources Defense Council mentioned in a study that Americans use as much as $1 billion worth of energy to power their game boxes. Of course this is much less than that consumed by other electric appliances (irons, microwaves, etc) but then people don’t generally leave them switched on, as the case is with gamers. I face this problem at home (I bet others do so) that my brother leaves them on until he returns (it’s usually hours later). given that a PS3 uses 150 watts, it’s a waste, big time. Why do people do that? To continue from where they leave? Sounds idiotic, given that one can save the game to do the same.

Rumors are rolling out once again that Apple isn’t hyped at all about the Macworld anymore as its magician, Steve Jobs’ isn’t well. That statement “isn’t well” hints at Jobs’ health to be falling rapidly and things are much serious about the current rumor. The man has always been at every keynote since his comeback in 1997, giving us many new products that have been liked by people around the globe and for me, the keynotes are nothing without the hype he has creates. I hope this one is false as always and wish hope it’s just his retirement that’s making people say all this, there hasn’t been any comment from Apple about this, making it all too suspicious.
If you are a visitor in a country and the reviews on Google maps aren’t in your native language than curse Google no more. The team has introduced translation for the reviews. It’s good to see how effectively the Google Translate API has been utilized to help users.
Google has made the search results for videos lighter by removing the duration and ratings for the video. The results for web and video differ in a way that users see thumbnails for video results as well as finding similar results for each search. The search results, appear much neater but I think it could have let the date when the video had been uploaded stay there.
