JS-Kit has added a new feature to its feedback widget that lets users improve comments by enabling picture comments on more than 600,000 websites. This isn’t something new, given that many services are already providing video commenting. That’s not it, JS-Kit has also announced that it will embrace OpenID. The service has been busy lately, with acquisitions and partnerships.

Alert Thingy has upgraded its service that lets you control your accounts on various social networks from your desktop. The support for Pownce has been removed since the service has been closed, but interestingly enough it will no longer support FriendFeed. That’s surprising as it has actually begun as FriendFeed’s desktop app. I guess the decision has come to make it a social desktop app, plus it has also rolled a version for FriendFeed alone. The new version is interesting with a revamped interface and support for reading feeds, giving you the ability to read feeds right on your desktop.

image thumb426 Mogreet partners with Fox Mobile Entertainment to send custom movie based video greetings Mogreet, a mobile video messaging startup, has entered into a partnership with Fox Mobile Entertainment, a leading mobile content provider for wireless carriers and consumers. The licensing agreement allows Mogreet to create mobile video messages based on hit films from Fox Searchlight Pictures and to develop and publish several promotional mobile greeting cards based on other Fox Searchlight films.

Mogreet compress the video greetings to 100k or less and send them as MMS or as SMS attachments. Mogreet messages could also be sent via "video greetings" applications on Facebook and MySpace.

Palm has got another lifeline from Elevation Partners, a PE firm that came to its rescue back in Sep 2007 with $325 million injection in return for a 25% stake in the company. Elevation Partners has now give Palm another $100 million in return for preferred stocks, that could be converted to normal shares at $3.25 a share – quiet a premium to the current share price of $2.81. Elevation Partners has also got warrants to purchase additional 7 million shares at $3.25 – if they so desire.

Australia is desperately trying to follow China when it comes to blocking services on the web with a country wide block on BitTorrent. The block was announced when Censorship minister, Stephen Conroy talked about testing new filters to block the service. What’s the point in doing so? Any of our readers like to shed some light?

image thumb423 Garmin to have its own Android Phone by mid 2009 Garmin, the market leader in GPS navigation devices, has announced that they would be launching their very own Android Phone in the 2nd half of 2009. The news is remarkable in a sense because Garmin’s AndNav2 is currently the only GPS application available on the Android Market. With Garmin’s direct foray into the Android domain, we could expect better GPS integration with Android and plenty interesting apps that would use GPS technologies in useful ways. iPhone lovers must have been missing the device in online stores since Apple and AT&T weren’t interested. Not anymore for AT&T is now giving customers an option to purchase the phone online. Make a purchase of an iPhone 8GB for $199 or 16GB for $299 (available in black or white colors). The interesting thing is AT&T is also offering refurbished 8GB phones for those who can’t afford new ones (prices start from $149).

But that wont make MySpace roll back its decision, not until other players like Warner Music, UMG and  EMI end their hostility towards it.
