As I recently wrote about Microsoft announcing in the PDC, that it’s LiveID’s will now be supporting the OpenID initiative meaning that only a single sign on required for users having not to remember multiple sign in user id’s and password and seamlessly integrating a single centralized initiative for accessing services on different websites and portals.
Feeling left out, today Google joins that OpenID initiative, and now your Google ID(Gmail etc) is your OpenID. Via this initiative, millions of users will be able to use their credentials be it yahoo, Microsoft, Google, Zoho etc(which ever supporting this initiative). But there is a catch to Google’s approach, it wants to be a provider rather being a “Relying party”, meaning that you wont be able to sign into Gmail with your Yahoo ID.
