image348 Socialmention: lets you search user generated content across the webHow convenient it will be if one could get real time updates on a particular topic that interests a person across the web’s social sphere, be it news, products, company and even yourself (if you are a part of news maker,a.k.a blogger). It will be of great help like many others in my area of work; the idea to enter a keyword, hit search and stay updated with the minute to minute development in the social sphere.

Socialmention is your way to getting instant updates on the topic you search for. The search can be customized the way a user would want to. That is one can search through blogs, microblogs, images, news etc or expand their search to every category. The sources for this include, Google Blog search, Twitter, Digg and the likes. What it does is pull all the news from these services and display every news in a single flow of news.

image346 Google and its love for the beta labelRoyal Pingdom has come out reporting about Google and the number of its products that, despite spending too much time out there remain in beta. So does that mean Google’s major releases that include, Gmail, Docs etc still remain un-finished products?

The reports were put forward based on analysis that Pingdom came up after finding that almost 45% of Google’s products remained in Beta. Given Google’s reputation and the success it has had over time, one wonders as to what could the reason be behind keeping their pretty successful products tagged in beta?

image345 MySpace Music is only for the U.S SpaceWith MySpace Music coming up, we have got news that the plan of streaming live music is only confined to the boundaries of the U.S. Meaning the obvious that users outside the United States won’t have the honor to enjoy the new service as they had been anticipating.

This disables MySpace outsiders from creating their custom playlist, listening to streaming music, or even get hands on playlist of friends who reside in the U.S and themselves enjoy the new deal. Sounds discouraging and more importantly dividing the MySpace crowd so openly.

lifesnapz logo LifeSnapz: keep track of your photosIt’s difficult to keep track of every photo since there are so many photo sharing sites out there, and we have like albums on almost every other site. LifeSnapz is a site that allows you to manage photos from multiple sources. LifeSnapz allows a different method of storage display, which is just great for the memory.

After you’re done with uploading photos, they’re arranged by date and location data; this is then used to create an interactive timeline. The timeline helps to browse through previously uploaded photos. On each event you get a profile page, where you can enter details and comment. So the site can be used as a hosting service for current events as well as a place for sharing photos with friends and family. The timeline is the only feature that sets it apart from other services, offering similar features, I guess it should work on more catchy features to grab the attention of users, away from Flickr and Photobucket, etc.

image344 Google Moderator; Vote for what questions should be askedIt is always a good thing to attend conferences about the launch of new products, presentations about some new technology ready to make an appearance all the way to some prominent figure addressing something important. However the entire thing blows off in the Q&A session when almost every hurls all sorts of questions and almost all of them don’t get answered. Time is key and it’s important that one way or the other the number of questions be scaled down in relevance to the topic.

Well an element of making the noise quite down a bit has been introduced by Google’s App Engine and its called the Google Moderator. The purpose of it is to scale down the questions in a way that only the most relevant of them are asked.
