image thumb286 Googles Street View gets resistance in GermanyGoogle might had quite less trouble with its Street View in quite a lot of countries but it has definitely received negative feedback one way or the other right from the word go. Presently its stepping into Germany has met a pretty un-welcoming crowd and many citizens think that the company’s slogan“don’t be evil”  doesn’t really stand true.

The town of Molfsee near Kiel has taken up to resist Google’s idea to organize the world with its Street View. The town with its 5,000 inhabitants doesn’t like the idea of being photographed by Google and letting the world have an eye at every nook and corner with its 360 street mapping and imaging that is accessible via Google Maps.

Reddit experiencing service outage?

redditlogo Reddit experiencing service outage?Reddit, which is one of the most popular social voting site, is having some issues in the morning as reported by The Inquisitr’s Duncan Riley. The site failed to display some pages correctly. Users were able to see the content (displayed below), but were unable to see the rendering page.

According to Duncan this has made Google Chrome to crash. This goes for the Chromium version which Duncan tested. Following is the snapshot of the page.

YouTube has a new video uploader, which was previously in private beta for quite some time. Following current trends the service has kept an opt-in feature for its users wishing to switch or remain with the old YouTube. So, with the new uploader users are able to input metadata, like the clip’s name, description, and tags while the video is uploading; as well as the option to upload multiple (10) files, up to the limit of 1GB – going past the 100MB limit.

Although YouTube’s competitors allow much of these features already, but these upgrades show that YouTube is working to stay afloat with the big guns. Of recent YouTube has been under serious criticism for offering the same services as many of the similar sites out there do.

yontoologo thumb Customize Facebook profile page with Yontoo’s PageRage Super Profile AppYou might have seen the option to customize your profile page on various social networks such as MySpace, Friendster, etc. but Facebook wasn’t in that category so far. Now Yontoo has come up with an application which let users the option to customize their profiles in Facebook. The application called PageRage is built on Yontoo’s original PageRage product. ibm iphone thumb1 IBM releasing iNotes Ultralite for iPhone usersIBM is soon to release its iNotes Ultralite app, on Tuesday, providing a way to get Lotus Notes email on the iPhone. The Web application will be released for Notes administrators as well. It allows to access Notes email through the Safari mobile browser on the iPhone. Administrators are required to install the IBM Lotus Domino Web Access 8.0.2, in order for the web app to work properly.

Where the support for Microsoft’s Exchange technology was another popular addition to the iPhone 3G, there are reports of IBM and Apple working on bringing the Lotus Notes Traveler software to the iPhone. iNotes Ultralite is a free service from IBM so be sure to download and check it out.

image385 Microsoft boosts Hotmail with speed and more storageWith Microsoft giving an upgrade to Hotmail by cautiously releasing its new version for the Windows Live Hotmail, there are reports already of users encountering problems with it. Users have also asked Microsoft to turn back to the old design, but I think its more with getting used to the new layout rather than the core problems it may very well have.

The new version offers a much larger storage limit, a capacity that’s set to increase 500 MB every months once the user hits the maximum of 5GB that’s initially provided. Plus it’s much simpler to user and faster.

codejam logo thumb Google selects programmers for Code Jam 2008 finalsGoogle’s global Code Jam 2008 competition, carried out at Google offices: Mountain View, Calif, Seattle, and Brazil, reached its peak, as top programmers grabbed spots for finalists. Top programmers from all-across Americas competed on Monday for the final spots, whereas about 488 programmers reached the semi-finals round.

The competition which started in July this year, saw a participation of 11,000 programmers. The competition had 3 rounds of timed problem solving tasks, specifically designed to test coding and critical thinking skills. The Asia-Pacific region has already selected its winners, and Monday’s competition was based on selecting winners from Americas. Europe, Middle East and Africa will see their winners selected next week.
