youtubegears thumb ‘Google Gears’ now lets you upload YouTube videos upto 1 GB

With the latest version of Gears, you are now able to upload YouTube videos more than 100 MB and the best part is that you don’t need any specific software to do so. Gears which is now being used by YouTube to upload videos, contains some cool features according to which it is now easy to upload videos with larger size.

With the new features of Gears, you can now upload a clip of size 1 GB and duration of 10 minutes. According to YouTube, the files after processing will be available in the ‘My Videos’ section. Though the files with bigger size may take upto half an hour to appear on the My Videos page.

qik logo Andreessen and Horowitz to invest and help Qik, KickLAT reports the teaming up again of Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz to kick in some investments in Qik; a platform that enables users to have streaming live videos from their cellular phones. The amount that the duo intends to invest remains shrouded but the two are set to join in as investors and board members that already includes Chairman and CEO, Salesforce.com. Marc Benioff.

The two presently enjoy success with their current occupations; Andreessen being the co-founder and chairman of social network, Ning as well as having a seat in Facebook’s board of directors and Horowitz being the VP and GM of HP’s business technology organization unit. Previously the duo had their heads joined up to create a web browser, Netscape and it wouldn’t bee so unpredictable that the two can turn Qik into something much better with their advice and recommendations.

image172 ‘Picateers’ the online photo sharing site for young fund raisers, gets $6.6MPicateers, is an online photo sharing site that lets schools, teams and organizations to run their own portrait programs while raising the fund. The San Mateo, California based company has raised an amount of $6.6 million in the series B. The round was backed by investors including the Norwest Venture Partners.

Schools and parents are allowed to set up an online shop where they can sell photos themselves. 25% of the whole proceedings goes back to purchaser’s favourite school/organization. On each sale the school/team gets 50%, so there is something for everyone.

openclip OpenClip: Sees the gates closed with iPhone OpenClip made its debut recently and we reported of its copy/paste functionality within the iPhone across the various applications that are run on it. It wasn’t something out of the box but more like utilizing a hole within the iPhone that enabled applications to read across others’ sandboxes. The idea sounded great given it was based on the non-profit slogan and developers thought of it to bee within the Apple’s SDK legal framework.

Things have however turned around as the copy/past procedure creates a bit of a problem for the users; which is it creates a temporary place for the data to be paste and the user has to make his way up the home directories to find that out. The drawback comes when each application has to be seen through in series and the idea is no more supported by the 2.1.

It has seen quite a lot during the times it reached this milestone; from introducing the redesign (which according to a survey revealed a yes vote by only 20% of its users as reported) to mud slinging with accusations and being accused.
