beta100 logo Google helps ‘sponsor children’ with ‘Beta 100’Search is considered as an essential part of the online world and search engines are playing a vital role in this regard. Beta 100 is also a search engine but its not the usual one. It has a noble cause behind it. The company will be spending 50% of the profit in sponsoring children who are facing poverty. It is some what like Kiva which also has a mission to help people.

It would be very hard to design a search engine from the scratch and make people use it, specially for such a cause. So what the Beta 100 did was that they took Google’s help and powered its search engine. This means that the search engine will return the same results as that of Google. The only difference will be that you will be helping the poor children with this search and it won’t even cost you a single penny.

gOS is an Operating System that targets the huge user base of MySpace. image239 MySpace falls flat on growth; still has a future in business There have been plenty of ups and downs for business up late and MySpace is no different. Sad isn’t it? But there is enough analysis present to comment at MySpace still doing a good bit of business. Pretty contradictory and confusing, that is exactly what one feels when you go through the report.

Goldman Sachs has put Rupert Murdoch’s web business to be around $3 billion, almost half of what had been expected earlier this year. The estimates put up by Goldman were based on FIM’s earning and it adds:

cuil1 Cuil shoots its Search Engine; a threat for Google? With a gargantuan expansion in the Internet over the last decade or so the need to fire up searches at a lightening pace, yielding the best results has soared up. Unfortunately the growth in search engines has not been proportional compared to that of the Internet. Google has been dominant in this department with claim of having indexed around 1 trillion pages. There is definitely enough room for another and this is where Cuil comes in with an index of 120 billion pages as reported by Michael Arrington.

Based in Menlo Park, the search engine that has been tipped in as the most comprehensive search engine is the brainchild of Tom Costello, his wife Anna Patterson and aided by Russell Power (both Patterson and Russell are ex-Google employees).
