Our comments and trackback policy You Link We Follow, You Comment We Promote
There are immense commercial possibilities that you can explore with videos and movie and television screening is one of them. So when all else fails, you should just go on to try the next thing. This has been Google’s product strategy as well i.e "To try out new things and see which one flies". Keeping itself true to this mantra, Youtube has launched Screening Rooms.
Youtube Screening Room is a platform for films around the world to market and promote themselves. Youtube Screening Room will have four new films featured every Friday, I guess the timing is ideal to have maximum audience on the weekends. This new Youtube feature is unique in a sense that it will allow viewers to converse with the filmmakers behind these films. I think they will be using Youtube’s comments feature for the conversations here, but I would highly appreciate real time conversations as well. This will bring us to another integration possibility i.e. integrating Google Talk with Youtube, enabling viewers and Filmmakers to chat with each other in real time.
Filmmakers interested in availing this opportunity should send an email to ytscreeningroom@youtube.com.
On a related note Citi thinks that Youtube will generate $500 million in revenues in 2009. I personally think that if Google could use it as a sandbox to perfect their video search algorithms, Youtube could be as big as Google itself.
