Jerry Yang has completed his one year of great service at Yahoo! as a CEO, today. Back on June 18th, 2007 he joined Yahoo! with deep conviction and enthusiasm and was really excited to have Sue Decker as a president.
“I also couldn’t ask for a better partner in Sue Decker as our new president. In addition to knowing this company inside and out, Sue has incredible talents, leadership abilities, a fierce focus on winning, and intense dedication to this company and its people.?
Yang explained Yahoo in a blog post as a creative, innovative, disciplined, talented and customer oriented company. He praised Yahoo! as a great talented entity that accepts challenges.
I have absolute conviction about Yahoo!’s potential for long-term success as an Internet leader. Yahoo! is a company that started with a vision and a dream and, make no mistake, that dream is very much alive. I’m committed to doing whatever it takes to transform Yahoo! into an even greater success in the future.
We have incredible assets. This company has massive potential, drive, determination and skills, and we won’t be satisfied until the external perception of Yahoo! accurately reflects that reality.
But all his determination and thought provoking messages starts turning purple when he started facing criticisms at its peak. Bad time at Yahoo started when the beleaguered company lost some of its key executives. Yang himself faced an adverse reaction by Carl Icahn as Yahoo strangles its talks with Microsoft and shakes hands with Google for its search advertising.
After spending his one year at Yahoo! Yang fails to achieve public’s confidence and votes. News of guessing next CEO’s name is heating up and tongues are lingering to change the Yahoo!’s board. Though time will tell whether Yang would be able to prove his caliber as a CEO or not.
