zup zup – A way to stay in touch with friends on other social networksIt is easy to stay in touch with friends on the same network but it if they’re scattered over different social networks then its a difficult job. zup provides you a way to stay in touch with friends on different social networks.

It is a new web service that allows you to send and receive messages on different social networks like Facebook, Orkut, MySpace and Hi5. All you got to do is to add the application in your social network.

The application is being added in more social networks other than the above mentioned ones. zup blog can be checked for the latest updates. Users can access their account by logging into their zup account with the help of their ‘zup key’ which is a five digit key shown in ‘Edit My Profile’ section. You can add friends on the same network as well as on different networks.

The application consists of five sections which includes ‘inbox’, ‘outbox’, ’send message’, ‘find friends’ and ‘my profile’. You can refine your friend search by ’social network’ and also by ‘country’.

zup homepage If you write any word in the text box and press ‘Enter’, it won’t proceed. This is the only flaw I came up with. Though the application is simple and functional, it isn’t catchy. If I have to talk to my friends scattered all over different networks, why don’t I use any messenger? It would be easy and fast but how would I communicate with those offline? E-mail is a way but it takes a little more time and people these days are fond of social networks rather than checking e-mail accounts. It seems like this service is targeting the lazy people out there.

They can certainly improve their application by making it more interactive and usable. I think it will eventually grow to be a social network if it gets popular, a social network that will keep you in touch with others. For now they have to work really hard to make this application better and successful or else it will be an addition in the list of flop services.
