Yeah Right, Twitter Should Shut Down

whale-thumb Yeah Right, Twitter Should Shut Down

Today Dave Winer and Rafe Needleman have both written about Twitter. What they have discusses is not news at all, but rather what needs to be done on what has been a pervasive problem with twitter, its unavailability. Twitter is one service that gathered the cheers and praise of many pundits. But with these praises came heavy traffic which was something twitter was not built for. It was just meant to be a weekend project that is later put in a shelf and used for demonstration purposes to present a unique or innovative concept.

The problem was that people like us, loved it so much that we took it seriously and made it an integral part of our lives. Twiting about what we took in breakfast or that we forgot to buy a present for our girl friend and the likes. Twitter of course couldn’t swallow so much junk and started to stay down, and come up online just for a change. The Startup Meme twitter account is down for the last 10 days, and we are unable to twit or read anything from our followers and friends. This is ironic and heart breaking and painful to be polite. I have never been so humble with a service that has given me so much pain, ever.

In the end I totally agree with Rafe Needleman that twitter should just shut down, till it could come online once and for all. And in case they cant manage to do so, they should just go down once and for all. Its better to die once, than to die every single day.
