Bill Gates in his last public speech as Chairman of Microsoft announced that his company is going to release a feature complete test-version of their next-gen web browser ( Internet Explorer 8 ) aka IE 8 in Q4 of 2008. Microsoft later confirmed the announcement by declaring that they will release a test release of the successor to IE 7 sometime in August. ![]()
Windows Internet Explorer 8 is the next version of Microsoft’s popular browser. Earlier this year, Microsoft released Beta 1 of IE 8 providing developers and Web designers a preview of the latest update to the world’s most widely-used browser.
Last month, Mozilla, the closest rival to Microsoft in web browser wars released a test version of Firefox 3 that promises to deliver more speed, reliability and stability. Microsoft is sure under pressure by the Firefox community to deliver as firefox is slowly but steadily eating IE’s overall share which is a concern for Microsoft.
Microsoft is yet to set an official launch date for IE 8. IE 7 was released back in October 2006.
