Firefox 3.0 and the Guinness Record

Say you will download Firefox

Pledge you will download Firefox

And help us beak Guinness records!

With FireFox 3.0 in sight of launch, the eyes have been set at creating a Guinness World record. And FireFox is very vocal about the fact that; its the users who can make it happen.

They have launched campaign at spreading the word around and taking pledges from the users that they will make this happen. Pretty surprising as FireFox is yet to announce a date for the launch; perhaps FireFox is taking guarantees from the users until they acquire enough to get close to their dream (A World Record!).

The number indicates that 40,000 users have already sworn in to make things happen for FireFox and the number is bound to increase in a short span (they have put a world map that shows the number of pledges form different countries). The idea is to create hype, and make FireFox appear like something BIG making its way to the Web world and why not?

We have been hearing about the bulk of improvements with which FireFox is coming with. All that has been said, let’s just give a simple click and wait if FireFox does set fire to Guinness Records (as the most downloaded software?).

Personally they could have given a date or at least a month when they intend to release the software; I just badly hope that Firefox does not report a bug prior its launch and if this happens……………
