Skype and Salesforce have teamed up to launch a new version of Skype for Salesforce via Salesforce.com’s AppExchange platform. Skype for Salesforce is seamlessly integrated into Salesforce applications and making a call is as easy as clicking on the contact’s name.
Salesforce customers could now make and receive Skype calls or initiate text chats with contacts by clicking on their names. Users could also add presence indicators to know if a person is available or not. SkypeOut calls to non-Skype users could also be initiated by a single click on the phone no of the person, but be-aware SkypeOut calls are not free. Salesforce users could also initiate conference calls with upto 10 participants using any combination of Skype and non-Skype users.

Skype Integration in Salesforce is completely free and to top it, Salesforce is giving away free 30 day trials of their CRM service to anyone who wants to try out Skype Integration.
Salesforce.com’s AppExchange platform is beginning to gather steam with alot of applications and application integrations being done with it. Recently Appirio launched Salesforce gadgets for Google’s personalized homepage.
On a related note Skype has also quietly rolled out Caller Identification for SkypeOut in some countries. So if have a SkypeIn number in one of the permitted countries, you can now choose to show this number as your “Caller ID” when calling other people with SkypeOut. All you need to do to enable it, is click the “Caller Identification” bit on your account page.
